Windows Installation Issue-Operating System Not Found
Posted by Gurpreet Singh on 22 August 2011 03:49 AM
The system was originally installed with some Linux Flavor. I am trying to install Windows 2003/2000/XP/NT but after the copying of all the files the system boots up saying "No Operating System Found".

Linux is very particular about the MBRs.

Please do the following.

Have a Linux CD or floppy from where you can bootup the system. Please boot from it and issue the following command

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=10

This will take care of any Master Boot Records.

Or please download the Linux rescue disk from
and do the above.
